We are currently working on this screened porch, with walkout deck. I will post finish pictures soon. This porch will have pets (dogs) resistant screens. They are guaranteed to hold up and not tear. We just finished this P.T deck! All lumber was stained prior to install!
Pressure treated lumber is ideal for outdoor construction, as it has a long, useful life span, and is much less expensive than alternatives. The down fall is that it has to be maintained. If the deck gets painted every 2-3 years, a PT deck should last at least 30+ years when built well. We stain all 4 sides of PT materials prior to installation, to give it an extra coat of sealant in areas you can't get to, after material are installed. This way of preparing the lumber prevents wood rot, and makes the deck last longer. On this deck we used a translucent grey stain. The homeowner wanted a Cape Cod white wash grayish look to her deck.
